Fairgrounds Park is a 40 acre community park located on the site of the Old Fairgrounds in Loveland.  Rich in county fair history and bisected by the Big Thompson River, this park seeks to connect park users with both the natural and agricultural history of the site. Existing open air barns have been retrofitted to serve as park shelters capable of holding gatherings numbering in the hundreds, while river-inspired plazas, promenades, and a playground connect people with the natural history of the site.

The re-vegetated wetlands and riparian corridor on either side of the Big Thompson River serve as the focal elements within the park. Sidewalks, a river access plaza that steps down into the river, and intimate seating areas sprinkled along the river bank reconnect park users with this natural amenity.  Xeric plantings, a skate park, a basketball court, a pedestrian bridge, a regional trail, four field softball complex, a spray park, and a dog park round out the site amenities of this park.

Phase one of the park construction was completed in the spring of 2008.
