Medical Center of The Rockies - Native Landscape

2008 CCASLA Award recipient – LEED Gold Certified Hospital

Landscape plays an important role in the life of a hospital. It can serve as a point of rest, a place of recovery, a location for inspiration, and a site for reflection. It must enrich the spirit and provide a therapeutic setting for patients, staff and visitors. The landscape design for the Medical Center of the Rockies serves this purpose.

BHA Design developed outdoor spaces that complement the uses within the facility, including visitor and staff courtyards, a rooftop plaza with views to Longs Peak, and an outdoor seating plaza featuring a cascading water feature, boulders and montane plantings. The landscape designs celebrate and integrate with the semi-arid environment by incorporating the extensive use of ornamental grasses, native grasses, shrubs, native perennials and indigenous trees.
