BHA assisted Boulder Associates architects with the landscape architecture design for a new oncology center adjacent to the McKee Medical Center. Although attached to the hospital, the Cancer Center is designed as a stand-alone facility to create a more personal healing environment for cancer patients.
Large windows in the treatment areas overlook an inspirational healing garden with flowering plants, grasses, and a naturalistic water feature. Many of the plants were chosen not only for their color and texture, but also for their use in the medicinal field. Soft paths wind through the garden, allowing employees and patients to explore the garden setting.
